Warmth

First photo: Nothing compares to a hot cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate on a cold morning. This mug was gifted to me by my fiance years ago and I have used it so often that the design has worn off. I frequently find myself rubbing the side of a warm mug when drinking a hot beverage, like they do in the Hallmark movies, while grasping it with my other hand.

Second photo: My boss makes soy candles at home often and brings them to work for us to lavish in. This candle changes color from white to yellow when the wax melts, filling the office with the smell of gardenias. The fire from the burning wick instantly triggers a mental response with relevance to heat.

Third photo: My daughter hadn't learned how to walk yet, and my son was helping her up when she suddenly started kissing him. They sat there for a few seconds, wrapped in each other's arms, indulging in a cozy hug. As their mother, it was a beautiful moment to witness and warmed my heart and soul.

Fourth photo: At work, we have windows all along the hallway that connects the break room to the patient area. We are on the second floor of the building and I love the brightness the sun brings when shining through all four windows. This photo reminds me of the f/64 group's style of photography where everything is focused: the foreground, middle ground, and background.

Fifth photo: On my commute to work today, I had to take a minute to grab my phone at a stop sign to capture how beautiful the sky was. The warm shades of orange from the sun perfectly reflected on the clouds at that exact moment. A few minutes later, the color scheme completely changed to a cooler tone of yellows and blues.

Sixth photo: Yesterday, the wether had been gloomy and filled with cloudy skies all day. The sun was briefly visible through the clouds on my way home after work. It was refreshing to see how fast the temperature rose as the sun viciously shined down.

These photos come together into a unifying theme of the abstract noun: warmth. Whether it is pertaining to temperature or heat transfer, emotional warmth, or warm colors, the different meanings of warmth connect in a special way. The warmth felt when holding a mug filled with hot beverage. The warmth exerted from a lit candle. The warmth one feels when hugging someone they love. The warmth from the sun beaming through a window. The warm colors visible amongst the clouds during the sunrise. The warmth felt as the sun seeps through the clouds after an overcast day. Warmth is known to represent happiness, hope, kindness, affection, liveliness, and emotion. Overall, it is something that someone finds comfort in, and that is the main reason why I chose this theme.
